The Red Dragons completed the season 7-0 in NJAC play and finished at least tied for first in the league standings for the sixth time in eight years. He rushed for 161 yards on 15 carries in a win over Western Connecticut State and 155 yards on 14 attempts in a victory at Morrisville.Ĭortland celebrates after clinching the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) title with a 31-17 victory at Kean University. Tailback Dorian Myles averaged a school single-season record 6.2 yards per carry. The Red Dragons also set a school record with four interception returns for touchdowns, and senior tailback Dorian Myles established a school record with his 6.2 yards-per-carry rushing average. Furey led the team with five interceptions, while DeBole made a school-record 16 field goals, hit 36-of-37 point-after kicks and averaged 40.1 yards per punt. Cortland averaged 33 points and nearly 400 yards of offense per game. Wutzer, senior offensive guard Randy Bloom, senior cornerback Pete Furey and junior kicker/punter Mike DeBole each earned AllEast honors. Senior offensive tackle Mike Wutzer was chosen as a honorable mention All-American. He recorded 10 or more tackles in a game three times, including 12 at Kean in a win that clinched the NJAC title. Safety Andre Green intercepted three passes and led the Red Dragons with 77 tackles during his freshman season. Dan MacNeill earned NJAC Coach of the Year honors as the Red Dragons finished first in the league for the sixth time in the last eight seasons. Cortland bounced back from an opening-day loss to win nine straight games, including a 20-19 home victory over Framingham State in the NCAA opening round. Cortland stopped the Bombers on a 4th-down play from inside the 1-yard line in the game’s final minute to secure its third straight victory in the series. One of the season’s top highlights was a heart-stopping 16-10 win at home versus Ithaca College in the annual Cortaca Jug rivalry game. The Red Dragons qualified for the NCAA playoffs for the eighth time in school history and advanced to the second round to tie for ninth place nationally. Cortland Wins NJAC and Claims Third Straight Cortaca Jug in 2012 Cortland finished 9-2 overall and won the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) title with a 7-0 mark in 2012.
